The Three Pillars of Wholeness: Mind, Body, and Spirit

As human beings, we are not just physical bodies moving through life, we are a complete system made up of three essential pillars: mind, body, and spirit. These three aspects are deeply interconnected, and together they create the foundation of our overall health and well-being.

When all three pillars are strong and balanced, we feel aligned, energized, and purposeful. But when one pillar begins to weaken or collapse, the others are inevitably affected. True healing and wholeness can only exist when all three are supported.

The Mind: Our Thoughts and Inner World

The mind shapes how we perceive reality. It governs our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and mental patterns. When the mind is overwhelmed by stress, trauma, or negative thinking; it can lead to anxiety, confusion, and emotional instability.

The Body: Our Physical Vessel

The body carries us through life. It reflects how well we care for ourselves through nutrition, movement, rest, and environment. Physical symptoms often arise when something deeper is out of alignment, acting as signals that something needs attention.

The Spirit: The Most Subtle, Yet Most Powerful

The spirit is the essence of who we are, it is our life force, our connection to something greater, our purpose. It is the most difficult pillar to understand because it cannot be seen, touched, or measured in the same way as the mind or body.

And yet, it is often the most important. The spirit was first created.

As a shaman or spiritual leader, the role is to tend to this unseen pillar. The spiritual realm requires guidance, awareness, and intentional care. Unlike the body, which shows visible signs of illness, or the mind, which expresses distress through thoughts and emotions, the spirit often speaks in quiet, symbolic, or indirect ways.

Because of this, spiritual imbalance can go unnoticed for long periods until it begins to affect both the mind and body.

When One Pillar Falls, They All Do

If the spirit becomes weak or disconnected, it can manifest as mental fog, emotional heaviness, or physical exhaustion. Likewise, if the body is neglected, it can cloud the mind and disconnect us from our spiritual awareness.

These pillars do not stand alone, all of them rely on each other.

The Importance of Spiritual Maintenance

Just as we go to the doctor for physical checkups and seek support for mental health, the spiritual pillar also requires care.

It is recommended that individuals, especially those over the age of 30, receive a spiritual reading or consultation at least once a year. As we grow older, we carry more life experiences, responsibilities, and unseen energetic burdens. Regular spiritual check-ins whether it is a saib yaig or neeb ritual performance, can help identify imbalances early and restore harmony before deeper issues arise.

Signs of Spiritual Weakness

Spiritual imbalance can show up in subtle but powerful ways. Some common signs include:

  • Repeated dreams of wearing cultural or traditional attire while walking on a long journey to a distant land

  • Persistent lethargy, feeling exhausted no matter how much rest you get

  • A lack of motivation or drive to engage in your normal daily life

  • A deep, recurring preoccupation with death or the afterlife

These are not always understood through a purely physical or mental lens. They can be messages from the spirit signaling that something within is calling for attention, healing, or reconnection.

Returning to Wholeness

Healing is not just about treating symptoms, it is about restoring balance across all three pillars. When the mind is clear, the body is nourished, and the spirit is aligned, we return to a state of wholeness.

This is where true vitality lives.

Taking care of your spirit is not optional but essential. Your soul is the foundation that supports everything else.
